A Homage To World Travel

I have always been an avid traveler and enthusiast of the outdoors. As a friend of solitude and a true companion to those who join me on my journeys, I seek out experiences that will change me and open me up to things I have never seen before. Exploring the far flung corners of the earth is a passion that hasn’t left me since the first time I opened my eyes and ears to the beautiful sounds and sites of vibrant culture and tradition. With so much diversity in this world, it’s time you look around and ask yourself when the last time was that you truly stepped outside of your comfort zone into something both unknown and unpredicted. Here’s to waking up in a place you’d never thought you’d wind up. Here’s to solitude and adventure. Here’s to good friends, the resolve of a weary traveller and the longing heart. Here’s to traveling the world.

Deciding when and where to go is never an easy thing. Whether it’s for pleasure, research or philanthropy, traveling takes planing, compromise, dedication and self awareness. Traveling by yourself is an amazing experience, but as a given, I would always rather travel with friends or loved ones. The magic of exploring new and different places with people you care about will only solidify these bonds. Friends who travel together are friends for life. In my experiences, I have made some of my closest friends, and taken my relationships to new levels while sharing these experiences with my friends.

travel-alone1The fears and uncertainties, coupled with accomplishments and strides while traveling can literally redefine you as a person. It can enlighten you to new ideas, ways of thinking about the world and how you interact in it. It is so easy to be closed minded and sheltered from the things that induce introspective and critical thought because we are surrounded by the comforts of our everyday way of life. The moment we shed these things, we realize we are free, and more able to pursue the things that truly define happiness: our relationships, our own self awareness and trust in ourselves. So get out there and do something  spontaneous. Be an adventurous, open minded crusader, help others and be the best traveller you can be!

polynesia-french-moorea-background-wallpaper-travel-165515I leave you with this great quote; a favorite of mine that over the years has come to shape my views, lifestyle choices and attitude towards the things so outside my head that sometimes I have to get on a plane in order to find them.

Be as I am – a reluctant enthusiast….a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards.”
