Standup Paddleboarding in Southern California

My list of outdoor activities to dip my hands into is a very long list. Actually that’s an understatement, it pretty much consists of almost anything you can do that involves being in the outdoors and enjoying the wonderful creation that God has given us. I feel like embracing all that the outdoors has to offer is the key to living a longer, happier, healthier life that you are living it to the fullest. By simply becoming a mini-expert or dabbler on just about anything this world has to offer makes me feel more alive and opens up so many more doors for me to become more of an explorer, more self-sufficient and gives me more opportunities to say yes to enjoying more things this life has to offer, in medical terms I guess they would call that A.D.D.

For example today I just learned more about cars then I have in the past 29 years. Simply because I took my girlfriends car to get an oil change and maintenanced for her long road trip to Alaska. We’ve all experienced the aftermath of a simply oil change and the 15 other things they slap on you making you feel like they need to fixed asap or your car is going to explode! I was raised on a farm and drove beat up vehicles for the better part of my life and never once had once blow up or have the worst case scenario happen they always describe in these up-sales they try to throw at you. I never leave those places feeling 100% satisfied like they give me the real truth about my vehicle and the true importance of that part and if it really is necessary to get fixed asap. It always seems like an up-sale to me.

So first thing I do is come home and research for a few hours about the problem they stated and I leave a better man with more knowledge on the subject and how crucial it really is. Now I’m definitely wondering a little bit off the topic, but the moral of the story is that I want to indulge a little bit in everything this wonderful life has to offer. Which includes being able to participate in all the wonderful activities the outdoors has to offer as well. I want to know more about a subject tomorrow then I do today plain and simple. Now I’ve never even paddle boarded a day in my life, it’s a little too pricey for me to get started at the moment but the goal is to find me a decent priced board this summer and turn that into one of my water activity hobbies. I really enjoy being on the water and what I’m more interested in is having my dog ride on the front of my paddle board while I take myself into the unknown. Now that sounds enjoyable and peaceful to me. The simplicity of enjoying life and finding happiness in something so pure.

If you’re looking to get into Paddleboarding then I’ve found a great lake in California that I’d eventually like to make my way over to do a little camping and paddleboarding. Not sure why I came across Big Bear Lake, but it just felt right and I’ve now put it on my list of things to do this summer “Paddleboard in Big Bear Lake California”. I’ll start with Deer Creek Reservoir  in my backyard first, but will eventually make my way over to Big Bear Lake for the summer. Below is some more info on the lake and the many other water activities it has to offer.
