Ten best kayaking spots in South Florida

I’ve been to Florida twice in my life, once when I was a little kid and we went to Walt Disneyland and the second time I spent only one day in Miami as we prepared to get on a cruise ship to head down to the Caribbean. The one thing about Florida though is that it is covered in water. WATER, WATER, WATER…..everywhere, and I’ve been wanting to go back ever since.

This makes for a paddlers paradise and I’m hoping some day to get down to Everglades National Park to do some paddling.  What’s really cool is that they have marked trails throughout the waters just like you would have a marked trails on a hike in the mountains, except you take these trails with a Kayak or a Canoe. When I heard about the The Flamingo Canoe Trails it immediately made the list of things to do on my traveling adventures to come. These trails offer kayaking and canoeing opportunities through freshwater marsh, mangrove swamp, and the open waters of Florida Bay. Kayaking and canoeing trips range from a few hours to several days. Paddling trails range from 1.9 miles to 11.5 miles. This just sounds like an amazing weekend trip to me.
