Tyrol, Austria For The Never-Restless:

Many see the land of the mountains as a peaceful little holiday region in Austria and Northern Italy, but next to thermal baths, skiing, and great spa hotels, Tyrol is an excellent destination for the never-weary sports fanatics. What could be better than exploring a region’s culture and heritage on the bike, feeling the rush of adrenaline when climbing a steep mountain or boulder, or seeing it all from up above with a parachute, gliding by the mountain passes and breathing in the fresh, healthy air of Tyrol?

High and low, Tyrol seems unlimited in the possibilities it offers to travelers – young and old, lazy or sportive, the peaceful, idyllic surrounding of the mountains is like a chance to forget about any and all troubles.

Summertime in Tyrol

The favorite sports among travelers are golfing, mountain biking, and hiking when it comes to standard activities. Those looking for a thrill and the rush of adrenaline are certainly not left without options. The charming mountain environment is practically made for jumping off them in search for the ultimate exciting experience. Parachuting and paragliding are just two of the thrills awaiting visitors to Tyrol. From 4,000 meters parachuters jump off a plane practically onto the mountain range. You can go skydiving alone or with a tandem master, fighting the fear of heights and taking the leap. Still thrilling, but a more peaceful process is that of flying through the area with a paraglider. On this flight, you will see some of the most beautiful scenery and nature.

Activities

The many rivers in the region make countless watersports more than just an option: canoeing, rafting, diving, surfing, or renting a boat are just a few of the great options to do sports in the mountains. A list of great sport activities with reviews I found here. Also the lakes attract many guests every year for any kind of travel: winter, summer, spring, and autumn, for relaxation, romance, or sports.

If this still is not enough for you, there are survival camps bringing you to your limits. The survival camps take you through the mountain wilderness, teaching you all survival and MacGyver skills while getting a fantastic view onto the beautiful nature Tyrol has to offer.

Whether or not you are in a wheelchair, the area is still most excellent for travel. As a matter of fact, the area pays special attention to offering a lot of activities for wheelchair users, blind, and visually impaired, some of these are wheelchair hiking routes and hand-bike routes.

Tyrol in winter

If the summer is just not your time to travel, the region becomes a winter wonderland perfect for skiing, sledding, snowshoe hiking, and spending romantic hours in the dream-like surrounding. The cold also invites to spend some time relaxing after a sportive day in one of the countless spas and thermal baths.

Truly, Tyrol does not have a time of the year when it is not a pleasant destination to spend an active (or even inactive) holiday. Most travelers to Tyrol are convinced of the excellence of the region, for whatever type of travel they arrive, and wellness just comes along with the trip!
